Sadly Mr Wizard has Died

June 12th, 2007 by Eliot

Don Herbert, who explained the wonderful world of science to millions of young baby boomers on television in the 1950s and ’60s as “Mr. Wizard” and did the same for another generation of youngsters on the Nickelodeon cable TV channel in the 1980s, died Tuesday. He was 89.

I remember watching the show before I went to work. Trying out the cool tricks like putting a piece of tape on a balloon, then sticking a needle through it.

Or him proving to us what a calorie actually is, and learning all about flash paper….Mr Wizard, we will miss you.

Sopranos Season Finale

June 10th, 2007 by Eliot

Wow, what a disappointment. Sheesh, AJ is happy whoopty doo, Uncle June has dimensia already covered that. They got Phil Leotardo, saw that coming.

What was the deal with Meadow not being able to park her damn car, made you feel like something was going to happen….and then nothing just 20 seconds of black screen…grrrrr

Does it leave you wanting more? Absolutely, does it look like they want a major motion picture? Yea. But what if they don’t get it?

What happened to the Russian they didn’t quite kill?
What about the indictment thats coming?

So many questions…maybe it wasn’t that bad, maybe it was intended to have sooooooo many damn questions and potentially never get them….grrr , i’m just angry.

Sunset Tan – Greatest Show Ever!

June 8th, 2007 by Eliot

If you havnt seen this clip yet, go ahead and treat yourself now. I’ll wait…

YouTube videoSunset Tan

E! Network is right on target. We want to see 6 year olds get tanned. It wasn’t enough with Showbiz Mom’s and Dad’s this takes it to a new level. I mean creepy gay guys, children getting inappropriate sun treatment, and the topper a dead guy’s whose last wish is to be tanned before being buried? Do people really care about the trials and tribulations of a tanning salon?
Obviously enough to make a show of it, I have a few other ideas, let me pitch them:

Based in the mid-west a mild mannered chicken sexer and his family of sexer’s seek to expand their business into selling wooden teeth to the locals- We’ll call it “Sex, Money, Chicks

A Florida Doctor who specializes in sex changes, for gay men only. He’s straight, but is caught up in the glamorous world of transexuals- We’ll call it “Doctor Whaaaa?”

They should rename it from Sunset Tan to Cancer on a Stick. Its catchy I think, damn I’d make a great TV exec.

I think Joe Rogan is right, we’re very close to “Who’s the Baby’s Daddy” where 6 contestants have intercourse with one woman, and she has 6 weeks to figure out Who’s the Baby’s Daddy.

Gidyee Yup..

June 4th, 2007 by Eliot

I find myself oddly fascinated by “Professional” Bull Riding. Today on ESPN 900 or something, people actually climb up on a 1500lb animal that is zapped with a cattle prod, and have their testicles clipped with something that want NOTHING on them…

Then in what I can only determine as an arbitrary number have to stay on it for 8 seconds. 8 seconds, why 8 seconds? Is it because these bull riders can’t count that high? There are guys like Cleetus, and Cleedus, and Cleatus wrastlin the bulls, to win a top prize of $15,000.

Don’t get me wrong $15,000 for 8 seconds is excellent per hour wage (around $6,750,000/hr), but for jesus, risk my life for a top prize of $15K with a pissed off side steak under me? I think not.

But yet, I can’t stop staring at the tv, guys with chin implants, screws in the legs/arms/torso’s. I think its similar to why I like Gymnastics. I like to see people fall. Not because its funny….because its hilarious.

The Soprano’s

June 4th, 2007 by Eliot

Finally!!! Is all I can say. They’ve stepped up the action, a few people die, and it gets interesting and intense!

For those that missed it, go get it on itunes or something. Without spoiling too much, the NY bosses decided to take out the New Jersey guys. The decision came down from the Phil Leotardo himself, to take out the top 3 guys, Tony Soprano, Bobby Baccalieri, and Silvio Dante.

Well Tony caught wind of this early from his “friend” in the FBI. And he decided to strike first, he imported some gooks from the old country to take Phil down. But the oopsed, and knocked off some Russian guy. Next thing you know Bobby’s at a hobby store getting bullets railed into him like a video game.

Sil’s fate is almost as bad, except he just ended up in the hospital with little chance of waking up.

Tony is now in hidding, going to sleep in what I think is classic, imagine him and an automatic assault riffle in a bedroom.

Side note, anyone else notice that when they go into the kitchen of the hideout, there is a life sized poster of Sil? Just thought that was funny.

Entourage

June 4th, 2007 by Eliot

emmanuelle-chriqui.jpg

Looking back at it, last nights episode of Entourage blew. Other than E’s girlfriend, the smoking hot Emmanuelle Chriqui, there weren’t any girls. Since when doesa high flying, movie producing, good looking Hollywood type not get any action? I’m just saying that it was a bit weak on the girl side, thats all.

As far as storyline, it just seemed like a filler episode to setup Season 4, similar to the way they did in Season 1, where they left everyone hanging on while they boarded a plane to go film Queens Boulevard (wow, does that make me a huge nerd? actually knowing all this shit?)
